Definitions of Impact
Summary: Impact has become the term of choice in the UK for research influence beyond academia. Here, the evaluation of academic and broader socio-economic impact takes place separately. Research impact is all about making a difference - who might benefit from this research and how? How do we define ‘impact’ in relation to research? Essentially it is the evidence of the difference that research makes: for example, health improvements or economic growth.
