Alliance Francaise talk, Friday 20 October 2017 Summary: Siobhan Brownlie, Lecturer in Translation Studies, will be doing a talk (in French) about the Huguenots (French refugees who came to England in the 17th century) and about the Congolese community in Manchester. This will be followed by Philomène Mujinga, who comes from the Democratic Republic of Congo, reading poems that she has written about her country and about her life as an asylum seeker in the UK.
