Greater Manchester Mayoral Policy Briefing Summary: On 4 May, Greater Manchester will elect its first metro mayor. We’ve identified some of the key policy areas in the election based on the candidates’ manifestos and the Manchester Evening News’ survey of over 10,000 residents in Greater Manchester; health and social care, housing, jobs, inclusivity and transport. Here, we’ve drawn on the expertise of academics at The University of Manchester and external partners to develop some key recommendations and challenges for whoever is elected next month. We are sending all of the candidates this briefing, inviting them to submit their responses to the points raised and their commitments on the issues, which we will collate and publish before the election.
